This is a “Rockstead” – “Saber” survival knife that can be worn anywhere you want. It is a very flat design that takes up no space. Made from 420 grade stainless steel with a wound tape and cord handle.
Blade: 4.5 ” (11.5 cm) blade with hollow grind for a superior edge and sharpening ease. Although the blade is only 2.5mm thick it is quite stiff. 420 high carbon stainless steel gives incredible cutting edge. Razor sharp.
Overall length: 9.5″ (24cm)
Tang: full tang construction gives excellent strength and balance – fully cord & tape wrapped.
Sheath: Military style flat sheath with belt loop, retaining strap and attachment point for other gear. Goes great with webbing.
Handle: Fully wrapped with both tape and cord. Gives very good grip.
Condition: Brand new, unused.
What makes these knives is the steel used. Many knives are made with inferior grades of stainless steel. “Stainless” is a large group of steel alloys – many entirely unsuitable for blade use.
Grade 420 is capable of attaining great hardness, sharpness and wear resistance. Its very high carbon content is responsible for these characteristics along with superior heat treatment. Of course this is also more expensive – you get what you pay for.
A useful design and made well. This blade is tough and versatile and very collectible.
As a survival knife these are great. Use the tape and cord to attach knife to a pole and make a spear. There are two holes on the handle to facilitate binding.
