I purchase my products directly from the manufacturer which is why my prices are so great. Usually I have to buy in large quantities but for this knife/machete I was able to persuade them to let me have a “sample” quantity. I don’t have many so if you like it go for it!!
This one is a smaller sword in the Japanese Tanto style with a cord wound handle. Even though it is light it isn’t whippy and is very comfortable to wield.
All in all this is very nice smaller sword or large Tanto!
It features a surgical steel blade that is hollow ground to a razor edge. The steel is 420. The handle is cord wrapped it comes with a reasonable brown PVC sheath.
Blade: 18 inches (47cm) long, 2.9cm at widest, with a hollow grind for sharpness on the edge. Thickness at back edge (3.6mm). The blade is satin polished and razor sharp.
Handle: 8 inches (20cm) long. cord wrapped over a steel tang. Good hilt and finger guard. Very comfortable to use.
Tang: full tang.
Weight: 341grams. This is a long bit of metal!
Sheath: reasonable PVC sheath -with belt loop and retaining strap.
Quite simply this is a long blade meant for using! Everyone who see it plays with it!
What makes these knives superb is the steel used. Many knives are made with inferior grades of stainless steel. “Stainless” is a large group of steel alloys – many entirely unsuitable for blade use.
Grade 420 is capable of attaining great hardness, sharpness and wear resistance of the stainless alloys. Its very high carbon content is responsible for these characteristics along with superior heat treatment. Of course this is also more expensive – you get what you pay for.
Condition: New and unused.
