Japanese style TANTO knife.
Beautifully finished knife with brass hilt and finger guard with strong blade and handle. I initially bought these in from the factory with no sheath – they didn’t have one.
However I was always asked for one so I had a nice leather sheath made. Not a traditional tanto sheath – I couldn’t get those.
Featuring a 420 surgical grade high carbon stainless steel blade with cord wrapped handle. A very high quality knife, well balanced and weighted.
Blade: 5.75″ (14.5cm) blade by 2.5cm wide and 3.9mm thick with tanto point and hollow grind for a superior edge and sharpening ease. Very strong with 4mm (nearly) thickness. 420 high carbon stainless steel gives incredible cutting edge. Razor sharp.
Overall length: 11 inches (28.5cm)
Weight: 8ozs (226 grams)
Tang: full tang construction gives excellent strength and balance – fully cord wrapped.
Sheath: Quality leather sheath with retaining strap and belt loop.
Handle: Beautifully finished cord wrapped with brass hilt and fingerguard. Very comfortable to hold.
Condition: Brand new, unused.
What makes these knives superb is the steel used. Many knives are made with inferior grades of stainless steel. “Stainless” is a large group of steel alloys – many entirely unsuitable for blade use.
Grade 420 is capable of attaining great hardness, sharpness and wear resistance. Its very high carbon content is responsible for these characteristics along with superior heat treatment. Of course this is also more expensive – you get what you pay for.
A great design, beautifully made and finished. This blade is tough and versatile and very collectible.
