FRONTIER brand knife that is a cross between a machete and a large knife. It chops as well as slices and does it all remarkably well. You can shave your arm with it.

Not to be confused with with the normal whippy cane knife.

These can’t be purchased anywhere else – I had them made for me.

It features a straight non flexible thick blade that is hollow ground to a razor edge. The steel is 440C surgical grade stainless that is great for edge retention. The handle is hardwood grips.

I have two sizes – this one is sml (large)

Overall length: 21.5″ (55cm).

Overall weight: 22ozs (624 grams)

Blade: 16″ (40.5cm) long by 2.25″ (55cm) wide by 3mm thick.

Handle: 5.5″ (14cm) long. Full tang for strength.

Sheath: Heavy duty ballistic nylon with press studs to retain the blade and handle retaining strap and belt loop.

Strong and NOT whippy – certainly better than most machetes.

What makes these knives superb is the steel used. Many knives are made with inferior grades of stainless steel. “Stainless” is a large group of steel alloys – many entirely unsuitable for blade use.

Grade 440 is capable of attaining better hardness, sharpness and wear resistance than most all the stainless alloys. Its very high carbon content is responsible for these characteristics along with superior heat treatment. Of course this is also more expensive – you get what you pay for.

440C is the best of the 440 grades at edge retention. Its very high carbon content is capable of attaining, after heat treatment, the highest strength, hardness (RC60) and exceptional wear resistance of all the stainless alloys. The chrome content provide good corrosion and stain resistance as well.

Cut, slash, chop and slice. This not a toy and should be treated as lethal in the wrong hands. However as a tool it has no equal.
