This one is a beast! One of the strongest knives I stock and also one of the heaviest.
It is a two handed heavy bladed, polished Jungle knife or Machete.
This one is better at the heavier hitting than my longer, thinner machetes. I don’t have that many of these though.
It features a very thick blade that is hollow ground to a razor edge. The steel is 420 surgical grade. The handle is hardwood grips and it comes with an awful nylon sheath.
Blade: 18.5″ (47cm)long, 2.25 inch (5.5cm) at widest, with a hollow grind for sharpness on the edge. VERY thick on the back edge (5.3mm) and very strong. The blade is mirror polished and fluted and razor sharp.
Handle: 8 inches (2.5cm) long. Two hardwood grips grips over a steel tang. I can put two hands comfortably on it.
Tang: 3/4 width full tang.
Weight: 1064grams. Too heavy for my limp wrist unless I put two hands on it. This is a heavy bit of metal!
Sheath: Really basic nylon sheath – a bit sad but adequate as you don’t want to wear it!
Quite simply this is a strong heavy blade meant for hard use. Not a toy for display – if you want some punch this is the one for you.
What makes these knives superb is the steel used. Many knives are made with inferior grades of stainless steel. “Stainless” is a large group of steel alloys – many entirely unsuitable for blade use.
Grade 420 is capable of attaining great hardness, sharpness and wear resistance of the stainless alloys. Its very high carbon content is responsible for these characteristics along with superior heat treatment. Of course this is also more expensive – you get what you pay for.
However I buy directly from the factory. Therefore the price is unbelievable for a knife of this quality. A no nonsense knife, high quality, low price. Gosh it must be Christmas!
Condition: New and unused.
