I purchase my products directly from the manufacturer which is why my prices are so great. Usually I have to buy in large quantities but for this knife/machete I was able to persuade them to let me have a “sample” quantity. I don’t have many so if you like it go for it!!
This a really fine large, 17 inch (overall) surgical, 420, stainless steel knife with hardwood handles and a brass finger guard and rivets. A feature of this knife is that it is straight ground. In other words the edge of the knife is tapered from the back edge to the cutting edge in one continuous grind. This make for a sharp, strong cutting edge.
Overall: 17 inch (43cm)
Blade: 12 inch (30.5) long by 1,75 inch wide (4.5cm) by 5.8mm thick on the back edge.
Handle: Hardwood grips with a nice brass finger guard and rivets. Comfortable and secure as the handle is larger at the hilt than guard.
Tang: 3/4 full tang.
Sheath: Str0ng nylon with retaining strap and belt loop.
What makes these knives superb is the steel used. Many knives are made with inferior grades of stainless steel. “Stainless” is a large group of steel alloys – many entirely unsuitable for blade use.
Grade 420 is capable of attaining good hardness, sharpness and wear resistance of all the stainless alloys. Its very high carbon content is responsible for these characteristics along with superior heat treatment. Of course this is also more expensive – you get what you pay for.
At this price you can’t go wrong! Fantastic quality and fantastic price.
