This is a quality specialist Dive knife but unbranded. Similar quality knives sell at dive shops for $70.
It features a sharp point and a 420 surgical grade stainless steel blade, with a top line hook and top serrations.
Blade: 5.5″ (14cm) long by 1″ (2.5cm) wide 5.2mm thick with top line hook and top serrations. Straight ground for strength.
The blade is strong and stiff and very sharp.
Handle: 5″ (12.5cm) long – rubber/silicon with a finger guard and stainless steel hammer/pommel. The handle has a catch that secures it firmly in the sheath. Very nice to hold and a ribbed non-slip grip. Has hole for lanyard.
Sheath: Moulded ABS with a catch that secures the knife – has belt loop as well as two leg straps with quick catches. The catch is secure.
What makes these knives superb is the steel used. Many knives are made with inferior grades of stainless steel. “Stainless” is a large group of steel alloys – many entirely unsuitable for blade use.
Grade 420 is capable of attaining very good hardness, sharpness and wear resistance of the stainless alloys. Its very high carbon content is responsible for these characteristics along with superior heat treatment. Of course this is also more expensive – you get what you pay for.
However I buy directly from the factory. Therefore the price is unbelievable for a knife of this quality. A no nonsense knife, high quality, low price. Gosh it must be Christmas!
